12 Pearls on How You Know the Recession is Over

I could provide you with all sorts of technical economic data. Fear not I wouldn’t do that to you. Here’s my list of how you know the economy is recovering.
1. When traffic on 217 is back to bumper to bumper in the A.M. and in the early eve
2. When the now empty Levitz, Wickes, Comp USA, Circuit City, GI Joes’ & Linens & Things store fronts are once again occupied
3. When folks in the rural areas start seeing log trucks again
4 When the daily Oregonian starts getting thicker again
5. When the Sunday Oregonian once again needs a fork lift to pick up (Mucho ad inserts)
6. When the parking lots of Home Depot and Lowes are again packed and there are more customers than clerks in the store
7. When fast food restaurants stop peddling $2 hamburgers
8. When I go to Washington Square and have to fight through the crowds and they all are carrying shopping bags.
9. When restaurants go back to “Waiting Lists” rather than “I can seat you right away”
10. When residential For Sale signs start coming down faster than they went up
11. When For Lease signs in front of every office building start disappearing
12. When the news media says the recession over. (Old saying “When the media says the recession is over, it will be)
